BUSHENYI: City tycoon Dr. AlHajji. Hassan Bassajjabalaba has announced a mega plan to grow Bushenyi/Ishaka Municipality.
Bassajjabalaba the Bushenyi district NRM chairman said he has already finalized plans of establishing a mega project at Rweibango in Nyakabirizi Division which will increase the population in the area and in the periphery.
This he said will solve the imbalance interms of development between Ishaka town in Ishaka Division which has somehow developed very fast due to the presence of Kampala International University (KIU) Western campus.
Bassajjabalaba was on Thursday addressing residents of Nyakabirizi Division in their respective villages where he is moving village to village mobilizing support for his son Idi Bassajjabalaba. Idi is tussling it out with Csl. Marvin Baryaruha the West Ankole Diocese’s Chancellor and Csl.Nicholus Ndyakira Muhereza in the on-going NRM primaries-campaigns to take Bushenyi/Ishaka Municipality MP seat. Voting is slated to take place on 17th.July 2025.
Bassajjabalaba was responding to a petition by residents of Nyakabirizi Division who petitioned him to intervene and boost Nyakabirizi town’s growth like he has done in Ishaka town. The city tycoon responded saying he has already purchased land where to set up the project that will turn around the area.
Sources indicate that he may establish an educational hub including establishing one of the faculties of KIU, an International academy/primary or establish a processing factory.
Bassajjabalaba’s decision to establish KIU campus in Ishaka in 2004 and later a Teaching hospital has since been described as Bushenyi’s game changer.
Had it not been his decision, it would have taken ages for Bushenyi district to realize the current social and economic development.
