By Chris Mugasha

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has named villages expected to be ‘hotspots’ in its tomorrow’s village structure elections.

They have been marked as hotspots due to a stiff competition between the candidates while others are due to their nature of location.

The areas that have been marked as hotspots include; Mazinga Ward in Nyakabirizi Division especially Nyamiko LCI where the incumbent Wilson Karuhanga is tussling it out with Gordon Mwesigwa. aka.Sikye and Katungu LCI where the renown Angelina Muhirwe aka Kyeritsa is facing Kamusiime Bagambe

Other areas marked as hotspots are; Kampala International University (KIU)-Western campus where there are two LCs with a population of university students, Katungu LCI in Ishaka Division, Karaaro LCI in Karaaro parish in Kyeizooba sub county.

Sources said about two villages; one in Ibaare Sub County and another one in Nyakabirizi division have failed to attract candidates to show interest in the NRM’s party LCI elections. But Muhangi said, “There is no LCI where we don’t have a candidate.”

However Kenan Muhangi the party’s election officer for Bushenyi district said, “There is no LCI where we don’t have a candidate. We even have many who are unopposed” Muhangi said. He also explained that all is set for tomorrow’s exercise.

In Bushenyi district, over 800 people/candidates were nominated.

Out of the 800, only 571 are needed to be elected as NRM LCI chairpersons for the 571 villages across the district.

Muhangi explained, “We are set because all the voting materials have been dispatched to their respective polling stations.”

There are 571 polling stations where voters will be lining up-behind their preferred candidates.

Nationally, there are 72000 polling stations/villages where voting will take place.

President Yoweri Museveni, the NRM party chairman has issued a statement rallying party members of the ruling party to participate in tomorrow’s exercise. End.
