By Chris Mugasha

BUSHENYI: As the recently elected District leaders prepare to be sworn in, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has commended the outgoing districts’ leaders for the cordial working relationship.

The NWSC Managing Director Dr.Eng Silver Mugisha cited the outgoing Bushenyi District Council as one of the councils that partnered with NWSC to extend water services to several areas/communities which were water stressed.

“I want to encourage the incoming councils to continue partnering with government agencies for effective service delivery,” Mugisha said.

Mugisha was speaking at the Bushenyi NWSC branch’s end of year party which was held at Kitagata treatment plant grounds in Sheema district on Saturday. It was attended by local government officials.

NWSC has of recent embarked on partnering with local governments like Lyatonde and the approach is said to have increased safe water coverage in communities.

Under this partnership, the districts okayed funds meant for the department of water and sanitation to be used to extend water to communities in partnership with NWSC.

“We are convinced that this partnership modus operandi will increase water supply across all districts,” commended Emmy Ngabirano the Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner (RDC) commended recently.

Last year when President Yoweri Museveni was on his campaign  trail in Bushenyi he expressed his happiness with NWSC for water coverage in different districts like  Bushenyi where safe water coverage stands at over 85%.

The MD said NWSC values stakeholder engagement explaining that, “it is the reason to why councilors were invited to this function because they have contributed to our success stories.”

Mugisha implored the NWSC staff to focus on Knowledge, Skills, and Character (KKC) to excel and boost their careers. He emphasized that KKC is a package deal that is requiring if all the three are to succeed.
During the function, top performing staff members were recognized with gifts as a motivational gesture. End.
