BUSHENYI: The Rotary Clubs from Greater Bushenyi (Kabwohe, Bushenyi and Rubirizi) over the weekend hosted Rotarians, Rotaractors and Friends from the Western Uganda at Rukararwe PWRD to celebrate Ankole Cultural night.
This was part of the Rotary Western Mega fellowship, which brought together the Rotary clubs/Rotarians/Rotaractors from the Western region and beyond. The event was attended by Rotary District 9214 Leaders including Past DistrictGovernor Taremwa Peace and District Governor Elect Daniel Ddamulira. The guests were served the ankole cultural menu of; tonto, eshande, ekyijamba, eshabwe, eshiga, karo etc..
As part of the celebrations, the Club recognised a number of individuals and institutions for their role in preserving culture and protecting the environment.
Rukararwe PWRD scooped the award for conservation and promotion of Ankole cultural values, norms, and heritage. Other winners include Dorcas Mutegaya (Sheema) and Katusiime Marcelus (Rubirizi.)

Speaking at the celebrations, Prof.Tarsis Kabwegyere, who gave a key note address, commended the founder of Rukararwe, the late Samson Nyine Bitahwa for the legacy he left in the field of conserving the environment. Kabwegyere saluted Rotary club for being a universal organisation across its activities/projects.
The Sheema Municipality MP Dickson Kateshumbwa officiated at the function and commended Rotary for coming out to recognise the the different organisations and individuals who have played a key role in promoting and preserving the Ankole culture.

The Western Mega fellowship also installed a water hydrant at Kabagarame pork market for use any cases of fire and was commissioned by the Rotary District 9214 Governor Christine Kawooya with the Mayor BIMC and Chairperson of the Market.
