BUHWEJU: President Yoweri Museveni on Friday addressed a rally in Buhweju district naming electricity and water coverage in the district as areas where he has scored highly.

Museveni addressed a rally that was attended by thousands of NRM supporters at Engaju seed school play grounds.

Museveni said his government may not score well as expected in a sector like roads which he attributed to a delay in embarking on tarmacking of Bwizi-bwera-Nsiika-Kabwohe road but in the above two sectors he has scored highly.

The president government had committed itself to extend electricity atleast to every district headquarters but power/electricity is already at every sub county level while in some areas it’s almost in every village.

On water, Museveni paused a bit before he looked excited over water coverage in Buhweju.

“For water, aaaaaahh I don’t know who is responsible (tindikumanya orikubikoraho)! Out of Buhweju’s 348 villages, 261 have been connected to water indicating that water coverage in villages is at 70%. Out of 4 marks I earn myself 3marks,” Museveni told the crowd.

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) a government agency launched in 2016 Buhweju district and since then it has implemented a number of water projects which have left villages having access to safe water.

Out of Buhweju’s 14 hilly sub counties, NWSC currently serves the seven sub counties of Bitsya, Buhunga, Karungu, Rwengwe, Kashenyi-Kajani and the town councils of Nyakishana and Nsiika.

On road, Museveni disclosed that the contract to tarmac Bwizibwera-Nsiika-Kabwohe road has already been awarded and that the contractor is soon kick-starting the project. End.
